A grand and commanding portrait bust, believed to depict Frederick, Duke of York (1763–1827) — second son of George III, Commander-in-Chief of the British Army, and the "Grand Old Duke of York" of popular memory — shown in the classical manner with Roman-style drapery over the shoulders.
Modelled in the neoclassical style of the great Georgian portrait sculptors, the piece has genuine gravitas: a real, characterful face, finely worked drapery, and true presence at over two feet in height.
Hand-cast in our own workshop from an original master, and hand-antiqued to a warm, mellow tone so it carries the settled patina of a genuine period piece. A singular statement for a hall, library, staircase or pedestal — the kind of piece a room is arranged around. Dimensions: approx. 710mm (28") high × 510mm (20") wide, plinth 225mm
