A dancing Bacchante — the wine-bearer of autumn — hand cast in fine plaster of Paris from our original 19th century pattern.
She carries the full iconography of the harvest: a raised cup held aloft, vine leaves and grapes woven through her hair, a thyrsus rising behind her shoulder, and clusters of grapes spilling from her hand into the climbing vines below. The modelling is exceptional — deeply undercut fruit and foliage, and drapery that seems to move with her. This is figurative relief work of a quality rarely seen outside museum collections.
One of a pair depicting the Seasons — her companion panel is listed separately, and the pair displayed together is how they were always intended to be seen. They make a magnificent statement flanking a chimney breast, in a dining room, stairwell, or entrance hall.
Each panel is individually hand cast in our Berkshire workshop using traditional fibrous plaster techniques, exactly as the originals were made over a century ago. Supplied ready to decorate — takes any emulsion, or a polished gesso or limewash finish for a period look.

Fixing: Suitable for wall mounting — fixing guidance supplied with every panel. Given the size and weight, we recommend mechanical fixing into solid substrate; we're happy to advise, just ring us.
