PROFESSIONAL CASTING PLASTER
Fine casting plaster for handcrafted fibrous plaster mouldings, joints, mitres and stop ends — the same plaster we cast with in our own Berkshire workshop.
Part of the PMD Craft Series: materials chosen and specified by working fibrous plasterers with four decades at the bench.
The traditional mix: sprinkle plaster slowly onto clean cold water until the water can take no more and small mountains sit on the surface. Stir to a single cream consistency. Leave to stand until it picks up cleanly on the trowel — that's your working window.
Craftsman's tips: this is a fast snap set with a 5–8 minute working window, so mix only a small bowl at a time; always dampen the surface before applying; clean tools immediately — it sets very hard.
